Dolev

Dolev is a self produced musician based in Israel, we sat down with him to learn more about his new releases, passion for film and things yet to come.

At what age did your interest in music began?

I first started writing songs when I was around 6 years old, it wasn't good at the time but I always had the dream to be a big musician, although I obviously didn't really know what I was going to do with it, so I just put it in a drawer and kept writing songs about once a week. For my 8th birthday my parents bought me a classic guitar after a long time of begging for it, and since then I started to really get more and more into it, until I decided to take it more seriously.

Where did you learn to play and produce music?

When I was 10 years old my parents sign me into a music school where I learned how to play the guitar for 2 years and since then I tried to train myself to get better at it, when it comes to producing I mostly taught myself how to do it, starting with FL Studio in 2021 when I was 21 years old, but after around two years I started studying it in a music school called BPM.

Why do you make music?

I make music because I've always had a lot of passion for it and I think I've got a lot to offer.

How do you incorporate cinematography into your music?

Cinema has always been a big part of my life. It was always music and filmmaking. For that reason, now that I make music, it's always in my head, I almost visualize pictures and different visuals when writing harmonies and melodies, and when it works I put all the pieces together and try to create a short story that's mostly based on personal thoughts and experiences that are visualized by a specific cinematography style.

What was your first recording project?

My first recording project was marilyn, which is also my first song released. It was the first song I took seriously and tried to take through all the processes of releasing it to a music platform

What is How Time Flies about?

I wrote "How Time Flies" about the 7th of October. I wrote it a few months after it happened, after seeing a lot of interviews of parents who lost their kids in the tragic event. The song is supposed to be from the parent's perspective, and it talks about the thought of them not coming back, even though it should be an "obvious thing", they refer to them as if they are still alive, and at any moment they could just walk in through the door, because they can't accept the idea of them not longer being alive.

What do you wish for yourself as a musician?

I wish for myself as a musician to reach the highest levels of sound and composition, and get a big following and support of people and eventually get to be on big stages in Israel, and outside of Israel, fulfill the ultimate dream.
